Support for People in Treatment & Recovery

Outpatient and medication-assisted treatment and peer-led recovery communities
SEE PROGRAMS

For decades, CCA has provided peer support, treatment and harm-reduction services for community members who use substances or are in recovery.

By championing peer-led services, listening to our participants and collaborating with cutting-edge health practitioners, CCA has become a leader in recovery and harm-reduction. In Brooklyn, Syracuse and Rochester, we offer community support, medication and resources for people to transform their lives on their own terms.

People who use substances or are in recovery face stigma, discrimination and criminalization, which isolates them from the community and the support they deserve. Due to the legacy of the War on Drugs, people who use substances - especially Black and Latinx people - are overrepresented in jails and prisons across the nation. Meanwhile, the opioid epidemic continues to devastate communities across the state. New Yorkers are dying at a rate of 15 people a day from opioid-related overdoses.

Through our New York City Wellness Center, we offer medications for opioid use disorders, including methadone. Medication-assisted treatment is safe, effective and proven to save lives by dramatically reducing the risk of overdose deaths in people returning from incarceration.

In Syracuse and Rochester, our peer-recovery centers are led by and for community members in recovery to offer needed support.

“CCA confronts the stigma, shame and punishment so many active substance users and people in recovery face.

Instead, we commit to providing the highest quality holistic treatment and support that all of our community members need to thrive."
Carole Eady-Porcher
Member of CCA’s Board of Directors
